A huge thank you Scottish Power

We’ve got some exciting news to share with you. On Tuesday, we had a visit from representatives of Scottish Power and Longannet power station They came to announce that we’d be receiving a donation of £15,260. See below for the story behind the donation.

The Longannet Legacy……

Four inspirational charities that provide vital support to people and families have received a funding boost of almost £100,000 thanks to ScottishPower and its commitment to a green energy future.

The monies for the four charities – Cancer Research UK (CRUK), CHAS (Children’s Hospices Across Scotland) – Rachel House, Shiresmill Therapy Riding Centre, and Strathcarron Hospice – were raised from the sale of vehicles and equipment previously used at Longannet .

CRUK, ScottishPower’s nominated charity partner, receives 50% of the money raised, while the three other charities – selected by the team who have been working on the demolition, clearance and restoration of the Longannet and Valleyfield sites – each receive £15,260.

Not only did we receive this amazing donation, we were also gifted a John Deere Gator as it was thought it was something that we could put to good use. I’m sure there will be a queue of volunteers wanting to put it through its paces.

We cannot thank Scottish Power and the team at Longannet for nominating us. Our Chairlady, Lisa Cairns, presented Lorne McCulloch from Scottish Power with a thank you rosette.
