West Fife Woodlands is again joining forces with other partners to host this year’s Fife Snowdrops Spectacular, now in its twelfth year.
As in previous years the group will be providing guided walks through Valleyfield Woodland Park with its wonderful displays of snowdrops and remnants of the Repton designed landscape. 2018 is particularly significant since it is the bicentenary anniversary of the death of Humphry Repton, the famous landscape designer engaged by the Estate's original owner Sir Robert Preston
After your walk you might like to visit the Valleyfield exhibition in the Reading Room at the Dunfermline Carnegie Library and Galleries, where photos and other records of the former estate will be on display throughout February.
The walks follow a trail through carpets of naturalised snowdrops and remnants of the Humphry Repton designed landscape. Join experienced guides who will tell you about the former Valleyfield estate and life in Georgian times.
The walks will take place on each Saturday and Sunday from 3 February to 11 March, departing from the Shiresmill car park (next to the Therapy Riding Centre) at 2pm. They will last around an hour with refreshments afterwards provided by the Riding Centre. Toilets available. The walks are FREE but donations will be gratefully received and shared between West Fife Woodlands and the Shiresmill Therapy Riding Centre, Valleyfield Woodland Park, Shiresmill, by Blairhall, West Fife, KY12 8ER. This Fife Council owned woodland is a public place and visitors are free to explore its delights at all times throughout the year.
