Gypsy had been with us at Shiresmill for 11 years and in this time had done an amazing job of teaching our volunteers and riders. She had reached the grand old age of 22 and towards the end had been suffering from severe lameness and arthritis. After many visits from the vet and exploring all other options, it was agreed that the kindest thing for Gypsy, and to take away her pain, was to put her to sleep. Gypsy left us very peacefully after enjoying time in the field with the other ponies and lots of extra carrots.
We would like to extend special thanks to all our incredible volunteers who cared for Gypsy throughout her time at Shiresmill, but especially in the last few weeks with such dedication.
Thanks also to Loch Leven Vets and all who attended and cared for Gypsy with such kindness, in particular Jane Haden, who was wonderful and guided us through the final steps with Gypsy.
Gypsy was very well loved by all and will be sorely missed. We feel incredibly blessed to have had her with us at Shiresmill.
